We are very pleased to have Kathy as a member of our advisory board. She is among the small number of medical professionals who are aware and current with cutting edge breakthroughs in nutrition science that is so important to us as type 2 diabetics. Kathy posts articles to help us stay current with what is happening in nutrition science and recent changes in our understanding of how our nutrition affects our body.

 

Kathy J. Shattler, M.S.,RD

Biography

 

kathyshattler.jpgKathy Shattler is a Registered Dietitian with over twenty years of experience in Medical Nutrition Therapy and Nutrition Management. She graduated with a B.S. degree in Human Ecology and a Master of Science degree in Human Nutrition majoring in obesity research and adult education. Kathy then went on to do post-graduate work in epidemiology, statistics and obesity research. Her work experiences are multi-faceted including work as a wellness coordinator, chief clinical dietitian, nutrition support specialist, Health Facility Surveyor for the State of Michigan and Food/Management Consultant for the State of Michigan WIC programs.

 

It doesn’t stop there. She helped her local hospital achieve Medicare/Medicaid certification for their Diabetes Education program becoming a Certified Diabetes Educator in the process. Her current responsibilities include being Director of the Division of Continuing Education for Nutrition and Dietetics at an online education management company, CEU4U.COM . She also writes news pieces for a health management site, www.redscrubs.com.  Kathy has her own consulting business, Nutri-Care Consulting.
